And Now The Story

I, Philosophy

Welcome to an extensive elaboration of one of the most efficient models and researched methods for teachers to teaching students in their classrooms -- Multiple Intelligences. These interactive "spaces" of knowledge, inquiry, and discovery provide the kindest, easiest, and most beneficial avenue for students to explore, experience, and extend their mental repertoire onto an infinite array of subjects, topics, and desires. My educatonal philosophy is the variety of life and multiple intelligences, when used by educators properly, will provide the infinity of choices and options for any student to gain optimal growth in all academic content areas for the rest of their lives. This is my educational philosophy.
Multiple Intelligences first manifested in 1983 and has grown extensively since that time. In the beginning, there were 7 intelligences identified by Dr. Howard Gardner, postulator of the multiple intelligences theory of teaching and learning (meet him below). The original intelligences are: Visual/Spatial, Verbal/Linguistic, Logical/Mathematical, Bodily/Kinesthetic, Musical/Rhythmic, Interpersonal, and Intrapersonal. Since then two other intelligences have been added: Naturalistic and Existential.

What A View

Here are some examples of the "lesser" known intelligences.

Following are links to the best of the best on the 8, oops maybe now 9, multiple intelligences that show the wonders that they comprise in the world of education and beyond. They are listed in no particular order, although the first 7 Intelligences are the most commonly familiar. Naturalistic and Existential are the newest added intelligences to the list beyond the original seven in the initial model and theory.

Intelligences Infinitality

They are the locomotive that comprises the multisensory arrays through which educators stimulate students to incorporate into their inquiry toolbox to access any and all acquisition of new ideas, concepts, and thoughts. Other areas of the classroom, which include cooperative learning groups, portfolios, and learning centers, are the cars being "guided" by the engine, and yes, the teacher can be considered the caboose, watching their students on their "journey" toward their educational destination.
MI (as it has come to known by this acronym) by itself does not accomplish everything; we must remember to activate prior knowledge, engage student interest, and make sure that the information has comprehensible input. MI is simply part of the chain by which teachers teach and learners learn.
